I bit it.

After hours of running all over this town gathering (or buying) documents, I officially changed my name yesterday afternoon.

I am not exactly happy about this; I am just tired of people judging and criticizing me for wanting to keep my last name. Nathan has been very kind about it. He had wanted me to change my name, but he never pressured me to. When he brought it up, I asked him, "Do you feel like a Smith?" His answer was, of course, no. And I explained that I had a hard time understanding myself as a Wallace--because it was someone else's name.

Of course, go figure, when it came time to write down what I wanted my name to be, I was a little overwhelmed. In the end, I sacrificed my middle name on the altar of societal expectations (and afterwards wanted to run in and ask that lady just how many middle names one person was allowed).

So, look me up under the W's from now on.

I dunno I read your post and I think of the line "a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet" That's you, you may have changed your name but not who you are. A name is a name, it's what you do with that name that matters... I dunno I'm just rambling...

Why would you of all people have a picture of bullets on your blog? It's about time you truly became a Wallace--It ain't a bad name.

lol, Matt, I was nearly plunged into existential crisis about putting those bullets up with the "I bit it" caption. But it worked lyrically for what I wanted to express.

Wallace is great; I'm just going to have to get used to having such a cool name now. I'm not as suave and good-looking as you people yet. :)
